park in the morning, beach in the afternoon ... swinging high and sandy toes!

What a gorgeous day in South Florida today! We did our usual Sunday breakfast out.  We followed breakfast with some park play time.  I think the whole goal of the day is figuring it out to release crazy kid energy.  This day we had the park all to ourselves.  Nobody was there on this beautiful, amazing day ... what?!  We ran like crazy, took over the park and played hard until drinks were needed and a clean bathroom became a necessity.

After Gavin's nap, we spent the afternoon at the beach club.  I can't wait to put Gavin into swim lessons.  This crazy kid needs them, like yesterday! Due to his tubes in his ears, last year was not a good time to start them.  Over spring break we plan to begin them for sure.  For the most part, he was content with playing on the pool steps with the toys and watching the girls swim.  A few times, he did ask me to teach him how to swim, as if this was going to happen in a 10 minute lesson.  We hit the actual beach for a few minutes and played on the playground set as well.

Today was certainly filled with love, laughs, fun and sandy toes!

HaPPy BIrThdAy to POpPa!

Today was poppa's 43rd birthday.  Anyone with kids knows and understands that you celebrate all birthdays with a party, no matter how old or how young.  The kids love to celebrate a birthday! The days prior included a trip to Party City, Walgreens and the mall with all three kids.  Party City to pick a birthday party theme.  The kids decided on Hot Wheels racing cars ... the thought,  it was like poppa's convertible.  Love their thinking! Followed by Party City was Walgreens.  We were there for 45 minutes picking out cards.  We finally settled on a spiderman one from Carli, and Ariel one from Lexi (she liked the song).  This is especially funny as Lexi has never been into anything princess.  Gavin found the perfect one as well.

The birthday evening out included dinner and then back home for dessert.  Momma made poppa's favorite cake for his birthday ... Jello-O cake.

I say happy birthday to my husband, a husband who is amazing most of the time, a father who is amazing all of the time.  Happy birthday to the most selfless man I know, to one of the most caring men I know.  Happy birthday my love! Here is to each year getting better and better.

I think somebody likes their new car

Look at this sweet boy! Gavin loves Mr. Alligator Mr. Agilator.  Gavin has slept with him since birth and hugs him tight every night.  "Sal' the Disney Cars mack truck on the other hand is just the desired car of the moment.  Perhaps, because it is new.  Gavin had some Valentine's day money from Mema burning a whole in his pocket that he needed to spend, like yesterday, like the second he got it!

Celebrating all the L-O-V-E

I love Valentine's day, well who am I kidding, I love every holiday.  All the bedroom doors were "heart attacked" and ready for everyone to wake up.  In true Valentine's day tradition the kids had ice cream for breakfast.  As always, the thought of ice cream was much more appealing than actually eating the ice cream itself.  Carli and Gavin don't really care much for ice cream any day at any time, Lexi, well she is our ice cream lover.  Ice cream lover Lexi decided after a handful of bites that she had enough as well.  Score!, the healthy breakfast is what they really want!! That makes a momma feel good.  School of course included parties for all three of them, which of course meant coming home and checking out the Valentine's mail.  Who got what? From who? Ohh a boy gave you that! ... you get the picture.

my little scientist working hard

To know Alexi, is too know that she is always up to something science! This girl loves her some bugs.  Today she took out the microscope kit and she was off.  Well wait, she also borrowed Gavin's workshop safety goggles and the dress up doctor jacket to act as her science coat.  I love how this girl knows what a "scientist" wears.  Lexi is all serious and all about the rules.  Her goal today was to prepare some new slides.  I should mention she has absolutely NO idea on how to do this.  In her mind, you collect a bug and simply scrape it on the slide.  Heck, who knows, maybe she is right ... maybe it will work.  She never did find a bug worthy of creating a slide.  Either that, or she didn't have the heart to squish it for the slide.  Probably the latter.

Mary Popins on Broadway

The girls and I went to see Mary Popins on broadway today.  I love broadway and try to take the girls anytime something decent comes.  We went with all the girls and the momma's of Lexi's first grade class.  Carli of course tagged along.  The show was great! It was a long one though, 2 and a half hours! Carli recognized a few songs.  She is singing a spoonful of sugar for grandparents day.  All the girls really enjoyed the show.  Afterwards, we went to dinner with everyone.  It turned out to be an all day event!
