How the Blog Works

Here is my blog and here is how it “works”

I think I should probably start with somewhat of a backstory on my blog … I have had a blog for several years now, but have never really made it public (http:/clevelandcrew2011@blogspot.com and clevelandcrew2012@blogspot.com). My goal was always to simply document memories for my family. I love to write and I love photography. Photography not in the professional form, but photography in documenting the love, joy and adventures of my family … the Cleveland Crew. Prior to starting a blog, I kept old fashion journals and photo albums. Journals, you know the kind you actually hand write in! This got to be time consuming with three kids. This meant three journals and what about the family photo albums, which one of the three would get those eventually?

As a means of being more efficient, I started documenting my family memories on a blog format. This allowed me to journal as well as attach photos to each journal entry. The best part was that at the end of the year I could simply, well I shouldn’t say simply, as it is VERY time consuming turn this blog into a book. Even better, I could order 3 copies so that each child could have one. Even better, this form of documenting could never be lost or damaged, as it is always stored somewhere in cyber space world. I should not go without mention that all the effort this takes is so worth it and my family constantly looks through the blog books.

So here we are today … over 2 years later. I love party planning and can plan a party like nobody’s business and keep a budget. I love favors, crafts, holidays (the little and the BIG), decorating, you name it. Perhaps, most of what I love is making memories for my kids. I am one of those moms that yes drives half of the other moms crazy. Thank goodness everybody at my children’s school knows me. They really do know that I am never out to “outdo” anyone, I just live for this stuff … I swear loooong before Pinterest. Though Pinterest does make my life easier. I often take several ideas, combine them into one, sometimes combine my idea with something else I find, sometimes I use others ideas. It’s all fair game right!

I work hard at keeping budgets and make celebrating the holidays affordable for all! Each time I celebrate a holiday, I use items from dollar bins, sale items, things we have around the house and never spend tons of money.  I often buy stuff post season, put it in bins, label it and store it until next year.  My mind is always planning the next party/holiday.  I don't want memories to be made by how much money was spent.  I try to create and keep traditions that can remain in our family for years to come no matter the situation.  I feel almost anybody can plan a party without a budget, it takes creativity to do it on a budget.

Now, with all that said … I have had several, I mean LOTS of people ask me “can you please just tell me ahead of time what I need to buy, so I can do this stuff”, “you always post your pictures the day of and I never have time to do any of it”. So here we are my friends, I will attempt to do what I can. Each post that has to do with a holiday, a party, a favor … basically whatever I think you may be interested in I will label under “Sisa’s style” (Sisa is a nickname given to me years ago by my littlest sister and I continue to be called this by her and my niece and nephews). This will allow you all to find all that “stuff” you are looking for a little easier and allow me to easily weed out those entries when creating my book at the end of each year, because I certainly can’t do two different blogs. Ain’t nobody got time fo dat!

This particular blog only starts with 2013, the previous 2 years blog are available for you to search on if you so desire. I did take pictures and document many of the things I did. I warn you, it is not as pretty, as it was never meant for more than my more efficient way of journaling.

I hope you enjoy and find things helpful. I love making all these memories for my children. If I can help other mommas do the same, I am honored. Always feel free to copy exactly what I did if you desire, they are probably all not my original ideas anyhow! Beg, borrow and steal that is my motto.

"Join this site" and "follow by email" over in the sidebar to get in on Sisa's style and start making some awesome memories!

 Xoxo
  Sisa
